Privacy
What Bamber holds, and what nobody sees.
Bamber exists to keep a secret. The way information is stored follows from that, not the other way around.
What we hold
Your first name, your date of birth, your email address, what you told Bamber about your situation, and the state of your invitation. Contact details are kept apart from everything else and are never returned to another person’s device.
What is never shown
Nobody sees your email address, your date of birth, your words to Bamber, your reasons, or whether you answered at all. Only your first name is ever shown, and only after two people have each said yes.
Who we share with
Only the service providers needed to run Bamber: hosting and database, email delivery, and the language model that writes Bamber’s replies. They act on our instructions. We do not sell personal information and we do not use it for advertising.
How long we keep it
Active situations are kept while they are live. Closed situations are kept only as long as needed for safety and abuse prevention, then removed. Opt-out records are kept indefinitely in a form that cannot be read back, so that a request never to be contacted can always be honoured.
Optional usage analytics
With your permission, Bamber counts anonymous steps — a page was opened, a button was tapped, an invitation was sent, a language was chosen — together with a coarse device type, browser, country and where the visit came from. Nothing you type is recorded: no messages, no conversation with Bamber, no email address, no name, no crush, no answers behind a match, no screen recording, no click positions, no full IP address and no precise location. Sessions and accounts appear only as scrambled one-way codes, so these counts can never be traced back to a person or reveal who likes whom.
These counts help us see where the product is confusing and fix it. Detailed counts are kept for 90 days, then reduced to daily totals and deleted. Essential security, safety and email-delivery logs are separate from this and are always kept.
You can switch optional analytics off at any time under Analytics & privacy in the Me tab; switching it off stops collection immediately. You can also ask us to delete anything held about you through the contact page, or delete your account and everything in it in one step.
Your choices
You can stop Bamber contacting you, block, report, switch optional analytics off, or delete your account and everything in it from inside the app at any time. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.
